SOME OF OUR MOST POPULAR PROGRAMS

5-DAY SELF-DEFENCE COURSES

Students are introduced to the basic concepts and techniques of personal protection and taken through a warm-up consisting of cardio, strength, and stretching components. Topics include defining self-defense, clarifying the difference between self-defense and fighting, exploring ways to prevent and avoid potential situations, explanation of safety procedures when practicing any physical component of self-defense,
safely escaping from the ground when stability and balance are being challenged, maintaining balance and stability when standing and being pushed or pulled, and escaping from a variety of common wrist grabs. We introduce some ground self-defense elements, with the biggest focus on getting back to your feet as soon as possible so they can disengage and leave the situation. On the final day, students are to demonstrate each component of the course. Students are graded on their knowledge, understanding, application, technique, and effort.
This can be modified based on the need of the group, and shortened if the school is looking for less than a five-day course.

CUSTOM SELF-DEFENCE PROGRAMS

Here we can customize the course based on the needs of the class. We can customize the content of the course, or the length of the course.

BASIC MARTIAL ARTS INSTRUCTION

This is typically a non-contact intro to Karate. Basics moves, and stances, with some fitness. This can also be customized based on the needs of the class.

ASIAN HERITAGE MONTH DEMOS

The students will be introduced to cultural aspects of Japan through martial arts training. For example, we demonstrate how to bow and the Japanese terms related to it. We would do a quick warm-up to get everyone moving. Then some karate basics, using Japanese terms and English translation including counting in Japanese.
The students will learn about the Samurai mindset used by the Japanese and the concept of Kai Zen Do, the way of constant improvement. In Karate, we don’t use the “master” because we are never done learning. We use Sensei, which is similar to someone further along the “way”. They are more like a lead learner, still improving themselves. This is related back to the student’s own schooling and learning.
