Kosen Bujutsu – The Art of Practical Tradition
With over 30 years of teaching, training, travel, and research, the Academy of Martial Arts has become a leader in self-defence education. Our signature system, Kosen Bujutsu, is a refined integration of traditional martial arts, classical systems, and modern kinesiology. This unique fusion creates a program of exceptional merit, where time-tested principles meet contemporary understanding.
The name Kosen Bujutsu itself embodies this union of past and present.
-
“Kosen”, rooted in classical Japanese, translates to “old school education.” It reflects our commitment to teaching Martial Arts as a way of life—not just as a method of physical defence. At the Academy, we emphasize real-world application and the development of character, discipline, and emotional control. After all, most conflicts we face are not physical, but personal and social.
-
“Bujutsu” refers to the skilled physical techniques used to protect oneself and others. It is the practical side of the art—the ability to take decisive, effective action when it matters most.
Through Kosen Bujutsu, we have empowered over 20,000 students with the knowledge to distinguish between fighting and true self-defence. By blending Karate, Ju Jutsu, Kobudo, and modern defensive tactics, our program instills both traditional values and technical excellence.
Kosen Bujutsu is designed to build confidence, resilience, and physical conditioning—maximizing results, minimizing inefficiency, and preparing students not just for self-defence, but for life.
