I have a lot to do, as I am sure everyone else does as well. I have had had the privilege of training in the Martial Arts through; high school, University, creating a career, having kids, etc. The one thing I came to realize is that the tougher and more demanding the world became…THE MORE I MADE SURE I WAS TRAINING.
It balanced me out, it cleared my head, it let me blow off some steam, it distracted me, and it refocused me so I could go back and deal with life.
An article in the Toronto Star today discussed the importance of how staying physically active boosts both health and grades:
“A growing body of research shows that exercise benefits memory, attention, and other cognitive skills. It reduces stress and depression and improves sleep, mood and energy.”
The Martial Arts gave me all that plus more. When I watch a kids grading where they can be in one spot for an hour, stay focused, not get distracted, and maintain motivation!! That has huge potential for impact in all other areas of life.
The Martial Arts mindset has been a tool for dealing with all of my tests in life: focus, never quit, fall down get back up, pay attention, hold your ground, and try again.
I invite all of the AMA students and parents to share their experience on how the training was not something they put aside in tough times, but something they dove into as a source to get through it!!
