Boardroom Rockstar

Does speaking in front of your co-workers make you want to crawl under your desk? Is public speaking not your strong suit? Be a Boardroom Rockstar!
The Martial Arts has many benefits: fitness, focus, self defence, etc. My favorite is confidence. Building confidence in yourself is an enormous step to improve the way you tackle challenges! Karate is one of the best ways to improve your self confidence.
Karate is set in a classroom environment. Each student is either partnered with another or working on their own. With this constant interaction beginners learn to perform while others are present. The simple presence of others might not seem like a lot, but it subtly builds confidence. When ready, Students are often asked to demonstrate their skill and knowledge, physically and verbally, in front of others. Confidence builds like a house, small and unnoticeable at first.
- Karate sets the concrete: It’s slightly noticeable, performing in front of other becomes less stressful.
- Karate then sets the Skelton of the house; Confidence becomes apparent as others become a second thought to your own technique.
- Karate fleshes out the inside and covers the walls in bricks; It leaves you solid and ready to speak with your back straight and voice steady!
Performing in these high pressure situations during karate class makes presenting in the boardroom a breeze. This goes with all ages. I saw this change when my children began Karate. School presentations became second nature and they had no problem asserting themselves. I’d be happy to see that change in you!
