I am a 43 year old mother of 3. I run a martial arts school with my husband. My life is busy! I’m beginning to think busy is an understatement. It got to a point where I felt I was too busy to invest into weight loss. I was looking for a quick fix. I weighed 236 lbs 4 years ago, today I weigh 154lbs. I’ve lost 82 pounds. I feel GREAT! You CAN do it, and it IS possible, but I won’t tell you it’s simple and fast.
My Story
Sempai Julie Creighton – Third Degree Black Belt – Nutrition and Wellness Specialist (NWS) – Milton Academy of Martial Arts.
Four years ago, I found myself in the depth of depression. I was obese with a huge symbolic question mark over my head. I was the only one who could see it, but it was always there, resting heavily on my shoulders:
“How did I get this fat? How can I get my life back? What about my long term health… will I get diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease?”
I was scared for my health. I needed to do something fast! But this only made more questions:
“How and why?”
I googled it. Just like you. I found articles and bloggers who wrote title like: How to lose weight fast! 5 foods to avoid if you want to lose weight fast! Lose 30 pounds in 30 days. I fell for those promises. They jumped out and caught me and pulled me in. I was desperate. I wanted to get the pain over with and have my results; enough was enough. I gained 15 pounds.
Sound familiar? Is that why you are reading my blog in the first place? Your health is precious. Quick fixes won’t get you long-term results. You will just end up gaining more weight and staring down at the scale in frustration. It’s not about FAST. It’s about mind-set. My karate helped with this. I cannot explain the influence it’s had. It gave me the focus needed to drive through the rough patches and keep my end goal in mind. I owe my success to it.
Come back next week to see how I was able to achieve my goals.
